I found a solution for this by using R129 buckles

This may be "crossing forum streams" but a detailed writeup is here on Benzworld --> Other thread

The Cabrio rear buckles are made by REPA and unfortunately, aren't similar to any other W124 buckle, or any other M-B (or other car I could find) buckles except one... the rear seat belt buckles in an R129 with rear seats. Most R129's in USA are of course 2 seaters w/ carpet in the back, did not have these seats so these parts are tough to find in USA. But I realized, in EU and elsewhere, R129's with rear seats are quite common.

So, I successfully used two R129 "occasional rear seat belt buckles" to rebuild my original A124 buckles. The buckles are 100% the same, except the bottom metal mounting tab the bolt goes thru to mount them to the floor, and the part number embossed on the back of the plastic which has a 129 # instead of a 124 #. The part # you will be looking for is 129 860 03 69.

You swap over the springs/bits, red buttons, and most importantly the black plastic surrounds to your original 124 buckles, thus keeping the metal bracket that bolts to the floor. Mine look brand new now and work perfectly. I could not be happier.
