W124 1992 320E Sportline
W124 320E 1992 Sportline

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I just did a VIN code research, first time ever for my car today. Unfortunately, this website said that the VIN code was invalid. But then I tried lastvin, and here are the results:

By the way, I'm really curious to know how rare my car is. Here in Georgia(Country), there aren't many 320E/E320 models around, and most of them are in pretty bad shape. Mine is even more unique because it's a sportline version, which is different from the regular 320.

My car ran into a problem yesterday—it won't go in reverse. So now I'm on the hunt for a new transmission, specifically the same one that my car has. You can find the details of my current transmission in the VIN information I decoded. I've been searching for a replacement here in my country, but I haven't had any luck so far, and it's really frustrating.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows where I can find the transmission I need, I would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

I had a '95 E320 sportline which was in the family for 25 years. Sadly, the same fate, reverse clutch seal went bad (design defect as they use a plastic seal instead of a metal one).
Rebuild cost was as much as the value of the vehicle. So I sold it to guy who ruined his engine but had a good transmission. Swapped his tranny into my car and was happy as a clam.
So my sportline still lives on....

E320 sportlines are a bit rare but they just have a stiffer suspension, stiffer roll bars and tighter steering. So any one can build a sportline for $1000, really.

I wish mercedes shipped manual transmission E class to US. Would have loved to swap it into my E320.

Long story short I'm happy driving my 190E-sportline with a manual 5-speed.

If you can find a manual 5-speed in Georgia, I would swap that in. It would be cheaper and last forever. And a lot more fun to drive.

- Cheers!
