1995 S124 Wagon Muffler Replacement?
Can a bad section be cut out and rewelded by a shop? The PN for factory muffler is 1244913501. Dealership told me that number is no good anymore and that the new number is 1244910300. But that that new number is NLA no longer available. Don't see much online except one that is $300 from some dude on Ebay used in Spain.
So would a good muffler shop be able to make up a setup with aftermarket muffler that hangs from the same factory hooks and same rubber donuts as the factory one did? Would another muffler brand make the exhaust sound too different to be convincing?
Could one use some muffler tape and JB Weld the hell out of it to fix it or is it just falling apart from the inside?

Ask me how I know? If it is NLA at the dealer, find an aftermarket reputable one an swap it in. Usually Mercedes exhaust does not need any welding so you should be able to just replace the parts yourself.
Comes in 3 or more pieces, CAT, center resonator, muffler.
