94 E320 - Does Not Reverse- What Should I Be Checking?
My next door neighbor has a 94 E320 that will hardly reverse. I like the guy so im trying to see if i can help but I have no idea about these older Mercedes or what to even look for.
Drives forward just fine, but when he puts it in reverse you can hear the engine just revving and looks like its not even in reverse. To turn around he will drive it up a slight hill, put it in reverse and with it rolling and him revving he can reverse enough.
I was just talking to him outside earlier and he said he may know the issue, says it may be a vacuum leak then showed me a 3-way type connection hooked to a white vacuum hose that he said is breaking apart. The connection is up near the drivers firewall. The white vacuum line its connected to looks like ti goes underneath the intake manifold somewhere.
Im trying to locate a replacement for that. Anyone know the part#? Im sure ill have to find one on ebay.

Figured id ask on here, see if someone can point me in the right direction of where to start looking. Heres his vin if it helps.
Fixed. Was playing around with that 3-way connection, making sure the hoses were seated in there all the way then all of a sudden it got quieter. Now it reverses like normal. Kind of very surprised actually. After researching into it more I figured it would need a transmission rebuild. That 3-way is brittle and should be replaced though, thankfully theres a part# on it. Now to try and track one down.

vacuum pinhole leaks.
