The 500E (or E500) was not produced in 1995, they stopped production in 94. I'd double check the authenticity of the year and model by running the VIN at a dealer etc...

If you are from north america or the car is a north american car, here's the 500E/E500 breakdown:

USA/Canada IMPORTS
1990 - 0 cars
1991 - 0 cars
1992 - 633 cars
1993 - 498 cars
1994 - 374 cars
TOTAL US IMPORTS - 1,505 cars

Anywhere else in the world:

WORLDWIDE PRODUCTION PER YEAR: (mostly europe)
1990 - 46 cars (0.4% of cars) (Test cars)
1991 - 2566 cars (24.7%) (germany mainly)
1992 - 4416 cars (42.6%)
1993 - 1596 cars (15.41%)
1994 - 1735 cars (16.75%)

NO 1995

Get the vehicle history!

If it has poor service records walk away. A guy on another site just spent $9100 on a 500E/E500. Here is a list of the more expensive items: Hydro shocks $1500, Wiring harness $1000 and TBA $1500, etc.

If it is has been maintained - buy it! You won't be more happy. The power is sic and the wife can't nag you about no back seat.

Good luck!

They did make the last lot of E500s in 1995...not many though and mostly they were Limited Editions. 1994 was the last year they sold them in the USA. 1992 is when they made the most...about 4000 cars. Total production was around 10,380 cars over the 5 years from 1990-1995.

Speaking from experience...any 500E with over 100,000 miles will need $$$ sooner than later. Along with what the other folks say, I'll add that the timing chain tensioner and perhaps the chain itself will need replacing before 150,000 miles, if not done already....another expensive must do. But of course, any car 10 year old car with 100,000+ on it will be needing TLC and $$$ IMO. But this type of car is worth it and very rewarding to own....also IMO.

I think that if you live in the UAE and are looking for a $$$ Benz...then $$$ may not be a problem for you !! Correct me if I am wrong.
