I have an opportunity to buy a 1993 400E, it is black with gray interior. The car is in excellent shape, the interior is immaculate however the car's been sitting under a car port for 10 years, it has 112K. It belongs to an older lady that inherited the car from her niece. I can purchase the car for $2K; is it worth the amount of surprises and challenges that I will encounter and find in the bringing back to life process. The body does not have a single speck of rust just clear coat fade in a couple of spots.

Does it say “420E” on trunk or “400E”?

My ‘93 said “400E” even though it had 4.2.

Loved the car, you will have a reliable car if the wiring harnesses have been upgraded to newer. Also the throttle body

The distributors suck water in and go “iffy”. Was really weird as I live in LA where chip bags left open don’t go stale, ie, no humidity. But somehow it would frequently run rough and the caps would have moisture inside.

Motor mounts are likely to be bad unless recently replaced. My tranny crapped out around 130,000 miles. Needed new window regulator at 100K or so.

But it got 30MPG on highway and great power over 40 MPH. Loved and miss that car.
