ventilation fan noise - help, please!
Hello,
Have a '94 E420 and have noticed two distinct fan noises when the ventilation system is on low speed. One seems to be the fan itself, the other is a constant, somewhat ticking sounding noise in the dash, center vent area? Any thoughts on what it could be and how to fix it? Also posted this on the tech advise board, no repsonses yet.
Thanks in advance!

There is someone on ebay selling a repair kit for the blower motor for around $20. I have no idea if it works or who the seller is but for the price it might be worth a try. To find it run a search under mercedes 124 or e320.

you could have some leaves or trash that have found their way into the fan cage and the fan wheel is rubbing against them, causing the ticking noise at low speed.

Beautiful Mercedes...duh
That ticking noise...Need help with that too.
1990 300 TE, I get that tick....tick.....tick noise sporadically. The fan speed does not change the rate of the tick, so it is not the fan...I dont think anyway. I removed the glove box, and the tick seems to be coming from about dead center inside that middle vent structure thing. My best guess is that some vent is trying to open or move, and that sound is a vacuum solenoid trying to pull or push.
I do not see how to get in there, but wonder if there is something you can put in the vacuum line to make it more efficient. Since my cruise control is also sporadic, I am thinking that I may have a small vacuum leak somewhere in the system.
