M103 EGR Fault
M103 EGR Fault
Hi all,
Have just scooped up a lovely 1992 300TE in the last few months. Was drawn to the vehicle's service history, particularly the recently resealed M103, but I'm having a small issue: 100 miles into my ownership, the Check Engine light came on. This is a California car, so I was able to pull the code instead of having to jump any wires. 16 flashes corresponds to the EGR having a fault, so I found a replacement valve that had been checked good and installed it last week. It made it all of 2 days before popping the CEL back on, with the same code.
What other issue could this be? Valve position, maybe I have a fault vacuum line? All questions I would appreciate any thoughts on. With this being a California car/coming with a pretty much unnecessary EGR system, I'm not too worried about how its running with the light on, most specific worried about the New York State inspection it'll probably have to pass soon.
