CD Changer
My '93 300TE has the original radio-cassette head unit with CD controls but no CD changer or player. I called the dealer and they said that the changer is no longer sold for this model. What is the best/cost effective way to put in a CD changer if I want to keep the original radio?
Is the junkyard (or perhaps eBay) my only option?
You can also find used OEM ones on eBay or the forums ...best to find one before changing evrything out for a new system...unless you wan to go that route.
I'm very happy with my OEM Becker Silverstone system w/10 disc changer in my 500E...works great after all these years.
I will check with Becker NJ and see what they have.
From what I could gather, an Alpine would work but it needs some adapters and what not and it will end up costing a lot of money (according to a guy down in TX). The Pioneer changer I had in my Maxima lasted 8 years and was still flawless when I sold the car.

you can purchase an alpine... really any alpine will do.. S601, S620, S630.. they work with the factory cd controls.
youll need a changer and an adaptor..... the adaptor runs like $50... but there are currently 2 on ebay right now for $1.00 (starting bid)
