I used slyvania silverstar 9003 ST/2 headlights on my '95 E300D, so I would not see why you could not. I love these new headlight too. They are much more bright than the factory bulbs.

So long as the SilverStars are the correct model for the light you have, you should be able to use them. Also, make sure the wattage is correct as well(it should be if they are the correct model). Some other aftermarket HID look-a-like bulbs use too high of a wattage and can melt the wire connectors (an expensive fix or a DIY job).
I use H7 for the low beam and H1 for high beam on my 98 C230. I like SilverStars as well as the beam is much whiter. Im not sure how much brighter they are though as the whiter light might make the light seem brighter when it really is not. I think if you look at it from a physics standpoint (many other threads on MBWorld have addressed this), when a bulb is colored even slightly the total light output must go down.

RunInColorado I took a look at my head lights today and I can see what you are saying about the white light. I see that they are not brighter, but produce a wider range of visible light wavelengths. They do seem to produce a more white light. Thank you for the correction.

No problem. (Taking too many physics courses can do that to you!). Eyes can play tricks on everyone! I think the ultimate lighting upgrade is to go for a HID conversion kit. Thats my next step on the C230. Although, I am planning to change the 89 300TE to SilverStars shortly. Out curiousity, how long have you had your SilverStars? I have heard they do not last as long as conventional bulbs but I dont know. I have had mine since Oct and not had any problems at all.

I got my Silverstars about August. Yeah after the first five times I heard about how electronic excitation effects the color of light in chemistry classes, I started to somehow repeat the same paragraphs on tests. Haha, almost as if one person wrote the same paragraph for other authors.....go figure. Physics/chemistry classes pay off when you need new light bulbs. I have pictures of the headlight actually in the mercedes, but not by themselves. On the left is one of my friend's car (1998 M3), and on the right is the '95 E300D. He got angel eyes on his and it looks pretty slick.

Im pretty sure the reason silverstar headlights are brighter and whiter is because they are hotter. It has to do with the halogen environment that they burn in being optimized to produce white hot bright white light as opposed to stock halogen bulbs which produce a duller yellow-white cooler light but bulbs that last longer. I've seen on another forum where someone put silverstar ultra headlights in their car and it actually melted the headlight from them being so hot. The brightness also has something to do with the filter on the bulbs which eliminates the yellow light and tricks your eyes into thinking they're brighter.
