90 e300 no fuel?

I have the opportunity to buy a 90 300 pretty cheap, that hasn't run for about a month. Current owner says it was a gradual problem (over month or two), and now it cranks strong, but doesn't appear to be getting fuel. Any suggestions...could it be one of the fuel pumps' relays or both or ? Thanks

It could be a bad OVP (overvoltage protection relay). The original ones were a problem. It could also be a bad fuel pump, fuel pump relay, plugged fuel filter, or one of many other things.

To narrow your peoblem to either fuel or spark, If you can remove the air cleaner and get to the fuel distributor, there is a line going to the cold start valve which connects near the intake runners(I think it's the only line that doesn't connect to an injector). Unscrew this line and turn the ignition to the run position, right before the starting position. It should squirt out a stream of fuel from that line. If it doesn't then your problem is probably with the fuel system. If you do get fuel, but still no start, take one of the plug wires off, (careful, these can be very difficult to remove) put on a glove and with the gloved hand, stick the metal end of a screwdriver into the plug wire, then hold the exposed part of the screw driver close to a grounding point on the engine. Have a friend turn the engine over. You should see spark jump from the screwdriver to the ground. No spark equals electrical problem, not fuel. Hope that helps.

I would agree with the above suggested problems.

As a guide a fuel pump relay cost me £78 a coupla months ago, if that fails it is a sudden failure and would not cause the problem to gradually get worse.

Out of curiosity what is cheap?

I would not pay more than £500 for a non running 90 300. £1500-£2500 for a good 300 with no serious issues, depending on spec.

Cheap 90 300e

I think I can get the car for about 500-600 USD. The car is in excellent physical shape and was a runner until this problem...the old guy wh owns it just doesn't want to be bothered. Thanks for the responses.
