jack tube covers

Just wondering how exactally the jack tube covers come off on my 88 300E, pull or screw. I tried both a little last night but didn't put much effort into it because it was so cold and didn't want to break them. Thanks

They pull off, there is a slight recess in one side, pop them off with a screwdriver.
