7-11. Doritos are good.

Seriously though a chip on a W124 is useless. Save your money and buy an exhaust and suspension mods..

I've heard the same thing, chip is pointless if you car doesn't have a turbo...is that correct?

Tony.

It has a bit to do with turbos butmore to do with the fact that the ECU's in the W124's don't control (or have enough control) over the fuel injection system. The W124 uses an electromechanical FI system, coupled with the fact that the engine is relatively low compression, and most of the power is being extracted from the factory.

Real World Example: My local tuner did a Chip/Carbon fibre airbox/exhaust from Renntech on a CLK 430 (which is full electronic FI and would way better benefit from a new ECU compared to the W124) and for $7000 CAD, only gained around 18 HP.

Save your $$ and get an exhaust system to free up a few ponies and give a much nicer sound. A chip will go unnoticed

Hope that helps!

Yeah, BMW ECU's are much more responsible for the fuel and are hiher revvin engines. They benefit heavily from a re-mapped ECU, most Benzos this side of the turbo diesels and Supercharged 32 and 55 engines won't.

Spend the Cash on suspension, wheels and tires etc...it'll be way more worth it...

You can't really with the W124 as explained above. Fuel injection is the issue.
