Grille Opinion
I just bought an entirely new grille assembly for my 1987 W124. The old one had chips in it. What would be the best thing to do, paint everything, including all of the chrome, the star, and the chrome inserts to match the color of the car (smoke silver), or just paint the grille insert black?

check my e320 winterized post, i painted my grill black but only left the center chrome strip on and painted it too. Its easy and cheap. I wouldnt paint the star, do u have any pics of ur car?

What I would suggest doing is painting the grill itself black and then color match the grill and paint that according to your car color. I would not paint the start...I would leave it as it is.
Before you paint...make sure you clean the grill off good even though its new and primer it before. Good luck and keep us posted.

I think gray for you
On your car, I think I would just keep it the original gray color. From what I can see in the picture, it looks like the gray color would match the bumper, the lower portion of the car, and your painted headlight wipers. In general, I prefer the look of the black insert, but I think black might stand out TOO MUCH on your car. I would not paint the chrome or the do anything about the star, because to me they are just too symbolic of the traditional Benz.

Iv been thinking about repainting my grill insert and front/rear bumper pieces. My bumpers have faded somewhat and i think fresh black bumper pieces and grill will be a very nice impvovement for a very small price. Has anybody done this? Does anyone know how this would look?

Have you tried using a restorer product to some sort. Such as Armor All Original. I used that and it makes my bumpers look brand new after each car wash.

Exactly I have always just used the tire foaming stuff on the bumpers when I wash the car. Also works on the door handles with paper towels. They look brand new but of course you have to keep it up...rain and time washes the stuff back off.

At work we fill a spray bottle with de-greaser and we empty thw whole thing on the car every time we wash, it takes off all that bs and really loosens up the grime, de- grease, rinse, scrub, rinse, shammy, paper towel on the the chrome and windows. Always looks mint , i washed the 320 yesterday and after i left the shop it for dirty insantly haha, oh well i enjoyed babying her, Yo deisel u still have to come by my shop with ur car. LAter yall
