Cool Engine Leak, Help !

It's a 1995 E320 wagon. I have replaced the valve cover gasket & added silcone high temp sealer. It still leaks on the engine passenger side. Also added washers to futher snug down the cover bolts.

I have run at idle for 15 minutes with no leaks but when I drive the oil leaks out in above location. The engine also seems to have pressure in the valve cover because there is a weeping of oil from the oil fill cap, & the gasget is good. How could this happen ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I called a Auto Tech radio show & they said check the PVC valve ? But did not know it's location. I have not found one ?

Thanks

There is no pcv valve. The leaks you mention suggest excessive blowby. Do you get a lot of vapor coming out with the engine running when you remove the oil fill cap?

You didn't say whether the leak was near the front or near the rear of the engine passenger side. If it's the front, it's probably the upper timing cover seal - a common problem. If it's the rear, you may need a new head gasket - also a common problem.

I usually find newsgroups such as this one give better answers than the auto talk shows.

Thanks for the reply. The oil leak is coming towards the back on the passenger side of the engine. I do not have any vapor from the valve cover when I remove the oil fill cap. There is a small amountof pressure on the oil fill cap when I remove it after driving on the highway.

Thanks
