Thanks to Board!- Passed Emissions, runs GREAT now.
I have searched for a cure to what's been ailing my '89 300e.
Stumble at idle/stoplites, rough acceleration and bad gas mileage. Fouled plugs.
I'd worked thru a few of the common maladys of these cars.
The new ignition components helped noticably at first, but the car would return to it's ill-performing self in a short time. Also helpful was keeping clean plugs in at all times. This meant carrying an extra set that could be quickly swapped if it started running REAL bad.
Well, my friends, I'm here to tell you that since I replaced the O2, oxygen sensor, my car is running like a dream. Idles/cruises/accellerates strong & smooth/starts & stops/ and just plain performs better than ever.
I did the Mustang oxygen sensor swap, found that info right here, took me 2 hours and about $50.00, including the sixer of ESB!
Here's a link to a great writeup-
