Water pump

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their water pump and how much work is it? I'm fairly decent around cars, swapped a 350 into my cutlass in late 90's. I can see 2 screws holding it on and am assuming theres 3 or 4. Also thinking ill have to take the power steering pump off too. Any other input would be nice.

I do not think you have to remove the PS pump. If you want instructions, I can send you a PDF of the job from the service literature.

I have the PDF's if anyone needs them. The pictures make it look so easy... You have to remove the air cleaner and tensioner and loosen the PS pump to get to it.

Has anyone here actually done a pump yet? Looks like I've gotta pull my pump to replace that shorty hose between it and the head.

um b4 u pull your pump keep in mind there are 3 different ones for a m104 motor. also the book time to do a water pump is somewhere in the neighborhood of 5.7 hours. that means a normal mechanic can expect to spend almost 6 hours replacing it. a mb tech will be quicker. if you dont wrench for a living expect 8 hours.

if you have the funds just have a mechanic do it. you must remove almost all the accessories off the front including removeal of the radiator if you dont have tools to work in tight spaces.
