Rev limiter

Does the M103 Engine Have A Rev Limiter? I was playing around today and went into the red on the tach. 1st time ever on my car. i want to make sure it has some sort of protection since it has over 220k miles on it. (i'm picturing the timing chain breaking)

It should have a rev limiter. Maybe some of the engine experts will see this thread. As far as I know, the M103 was made for revving at the redline all day. Great engine!

the limiter on my '91 is at 6600, but its redlined at 6200. I made the car hit the limiter in first gear while leaving it in drive so you should be able to do the same.

I was "racing" once in my 300e and decided to manually shift the automatic . I made a mistake and forgot to shift out of the "2". Lets just say I got to about 80mph and that sucker redlined in 3rd gear and the car jerked hard. I doubt there was a rev limiter in it.
