How to reset service light?

How to reset service light?
My car has been counting down from 1200 miles for a full service. Now the computer is saying SERVICE NOW. I was wondering if there is a way to reset it? I know on BMW you can jump the import plug with a simple piece of wire. I used to do it every so often. I don't want to take it to the dealer.

Here's the instruction, copy & pasted from my old archive
Get in car, close door
turn key to "on" (so all the dash lights are lit)
push trip meter button twice, the amount of miles remaining should be indicated. If you get the "service now" indication when turning the key on, wait for it to disappear, then push the reset button twice. (this is pushed in rather quickly, it is "taptap" vs "tap...tap"
After you push the button twice, hold DOWN the button, then (WHILE holding in the button!) turn the key OFF, then back ON again, (keep holding in the button!) and wait, oh about 10-15 seconds, you will hear a "beep" and the odometer will now read 10000, THAT is when it is reset.

In answer to your questions, the key stays in the ignition the whole time and the motor will not start in the on position. (The 4 ignition positions are: off, accessory, on, start.)
