Light Bulbs

Two questions.

First on the US Spec front side running lights, how do you replace the bulbs? It appears these bulb inclosures are imbedded in the bumper guard strips.

Second. My fog light is seared into the electric socket. It is a H1 bulb and will not come out. Is it possible to get a replacement electric socket?

My vehicle is a 2000 German Spec E240 (2.60 liter engine) and has been converted to US Specs for importation to US. It is now titled as 2001 model year due to the manufacturing date.

Thanx!

If it's a W210 body and the same confuguration as my 2000 E320, there is a hole inside the wheel-well near the lamp housing. Turn the wheel away from the hole on whatever side you are doing and poke your finger in there. Feel for a flat plastic tab in there near the rear portion of the lamp fixture. It is pushed forward and then should pop the lamp fixture out of the bumper.

Just persist, or get someone with long, strong fingers. The rest is easy.

My '96 E320 MB is the same way. Push your finger in the open hole of the plastic part in front of the rubber tire, it will open the "yellow" side cover. Replace the bulb and snap it back in again. I bought my bulbs at Pep-Boys (I believe $2 for a package of 2)

Smile Fog light...second part of your post

Hi, Jumper.

I hope this will be of some help. I attached a picture of a stock E320 fog light assembly so you could compare it to yours to see if they're at least similar.

I have a US Spec W210 (E320), so if your fog lights are indeed like those then I think the socket is part of the housing. (I replaced a lens quite a while back and that's my recollection.) If so, then you'll need the whole assembly and it can be found for a decent price. The stock E320's are $105 each at autohausaz.com, I don't think I'm allowed to post the link but you can browse easily on their site or search by part no. 1708200156 (that's the left assembly, for example, and is the pic I attached).

If yours has a socket that is not part of the housing, it may be separately available from the dealer, hopefully for lots less than the assembly.

Good luck and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Smile Thanks

Thank you all the insights on how to fix my vehicle problems. Definitely expensive to service here in Israel and hoping to get back to Europe for another tour for anything major. Again, all three posts were on the money!
