New wheels; help me decide

I have been trying to find a set of 17” wheels for my upgrade project, but the wheels I like only comes in 18”. Can someone tell me if they have fitted 18” wheels on the W210 and if so, did it affect how smooth the car rides or handles bumpy roads?

Any time you decrease the sidewall height of a tire (as compared to original equipment), like you do when increasing rim diameter, you will impact ride quality to some degree.
Many believe that the look of larger diameter wheels are worth the sacrifice in ride quality.
Many times, such negatives can be compensated for (but not usually eliminated entirely) by use of aftermarket shocks, springs, or other non-factory suspension components and settings.

All this being said, I have heard of/seen 19's on a 210. I am not certain about the offsets required, the specific suspension/body modifications, or if a particular tire size/brand is required to accomodate this mod.

Make certain that you do your homework before slapping +1 or +2 (or more!) rims on your MBZ, the time you spend now will save $$ later.

awtrott, the ride will definitely be a bit harder and rougher a tad, depending on the wheels, and the intial acceleration might slip a bit..however, i'm happy with my set of 18inches, and i've been loving it ever since i changed to bilstein SPs. Aftermarket shocks does help with the comfort and ride of the car...

my 2 cents...

Thanks guys for your input. I will without pause do some extensive researches before making my decision. Hey dan_cobb; I see you can be quite pessimistic. Lets hope your opposing view don't jinks me since this philosophy has worked for me most of my live.
