Programing Garage Door Opener

I recently purchased a 97 E320, and I can't get the garage door opener programmed. I do not have a manual so I don't know if I'm doing it right. When I press and hold down the buttons, they immediately start flashing, I then hold my garage door opener up to it and press the button, but to no avail. Does anyone have any advice?

I think there are some openers that won't work with it, but I've had pretty good luck with mine so far.

I hold down (actually up since it's on the bottom of the mirror) the button until the flashing slows down, which may take a few seconds, then, while still holding the button in I hold the controller up to the BACK of the mirror. Hold the button of the controller in for a short while before releasing them both. If I'm not mistaken you will see the pattern of flashing change when the new code is entered. Then you know it's in.

However, it could be that you have to clear out everything and reset it. If so let me know and I'll find my manual to get the instructions for you.

Good luck.

Go to the HOMELINK webpage.

Go here

The 97 can not do rolling code garage doors. If you have a newer opener chances are it will not work. The module was updated in 98 and after but even then it is a 2 part programming process. Program the homelink module in the car and then program the garage door opener to work with it.
