Exclamation My Temp Gauge

I just noticed my temp gauge in stop an go is between 90 and 100, but not a 100 and above. When the cooling fan kicks in, it drops to about 85. I was told it is normal, what do you all think? Thanks

should be okay

I think 90 to 100 in stop and go traffic is okay if the A/C is on and it's a warm day. Mine stays rock solid at 80 with the A/C off. Hottest I've seen it is 85-90 idling with the A/C on. As long as your aux fan kicks in properly and it doesn't go past 100, I think you're fine. Now if it's 50 degrees (F) out, A/C off, and it's still doing that, I might be a little concerned.

It is today about 55 F, and that was without the A/C being on !!!
Actaully, when the A/C is on, it actually drops back to 80-81 F.

Do you have a belt-driven fan? If you do, maybe your fan clutch is going out? If not, it's probably normal. I've seen a couple pictures of E's that only have electric fans or have a different fan setup than my '98. Electric fans allow wide temperature fluctuations since they run intermittently.

It is an electric fan. Not a belt fan.
