installing rear deck spoiler

update on my springs in the rear
dropped another .6 to .8 inches, making total of ~1.2 inches
below's the 'after' pic

i've ordered a Schatz rear deck spoiler from the Performanceparts in Calif. today. Like other rear wings, it has to be bolted on the the trunk lid. I don't want to put holes in my trunk. Are there alternative methods? I remember that AC Schnitzer roof spoiler and parts of the wing for my other car came with adhesive back where i just stuck it onto the corresponding body part. Can the rear deck be mounted with some strong adhesive?

BTW, the deck spoiler look very similar Lorinser spoiler with 3rd brake light.

any experiences in past??

any comments or advises will be appreciated

e43sport,

Nice Car! Which H&R springs did you use? Did MBZ of Alexandria install and how much? Thanks.

Did the trick of putting the wife or ex-wife in the trunk to settle the springs work?

yeah, i still have her in the trunk!
Man, she makes too much noise especially on hard turns and occasional pot holes, so i am upgrading my stereo sys. next week

ha ha ha!

i hope my wife doesn't know about this website!!!

anyways, Dave Smith is a service adviser and he charged me 5 hrs ($429.00, i think) to do the job and he threw in the alignment work. i am very pleased with his service and his service team. Bit more than CDE motorsports or Autothority but Dave's team's excellent.

i bought H&R springs for W210 (6 cyl. and 8 cyl.) and not the one that just fits 8 cyl. part number is at their website www.hrsprings.com When i called H&R directly about this confussing issue, he said that one that fits both models lowers bit more so i went with it.

let me know if you have any more ques.

e43sport,

That's strange - the V6/V8 kit lowers more than the V8 kit. Part numbers from their website are:

W210 6-Cyl/V8 Part # 29724-2

W210 V8 part # 52724

Anyone care to explain that oddity? Thanks.

I bet it might have to do with the difference in e320 vs. e430 curb weight - the e320 a couple hundred lbs. lighter right?

PS: Kev
Painted the calipers red last wknd. with the G2 paint and it seems to have cured to a nice gloss

sportlichE430, way to go! I just got the G2 kits in Red and Blue. I am leaning toward blue for the E55 because the windows are blue tinted. The Red will go on my Black Explorer Sport Trac.

e43sport,

I guess you will be able to tell if you can go with industrial strenght double stick tape when you get the spoiler. It might depend on the amount of surface area which will be covered with the tape. Drilling may be your only option. Good Luck!

You guys have all the fun. I wish I had some $$ to do these things.

How about painted calipers on a white E? Would that just look stupid?

RBrenton88,

how about doing a mild color like Silver or Black calipers.
