wiper washer not working - it this common?

2001 e320, <40,000 miles.
The wiper fluid resovoir is full, all hoses and wires appear to be connected, but it will not shoot. I didn't check the motor/pump yet, as I was alone and unable to peek under the hood and flip the switch, but where is the most common failure on these systems?
I'm assuming either a fuse, pump, or clogged nozzle.

Talking

Turns out to be a faulty wife....
I have no idea why it didn't work for her, but at my first opportunity I checked if it would work and 'whaddya know', I had spritz-on-da-glass.

Maybe it works about the same way as the 'smart key' remote!?!?

Dan, do you have the "rain sensor" on that model? If it does then sometimes if the rain is only like a mist it takes a while to build up enough moisture on the sensor to activate it. That's in the wiper's first position. If you go on to the other positions then it should work as normal.

Perhaps it is also a faulty husband! I used them again today when the drizzle covered my windshield with a slippery layer of goop. I got no spray until i was in the second position. This must be the reason.
Thanks for the insight.
