They're rubber buffers that sit between the coil springs and control arms. You can get different thicknesses to lower or raise the heightof the car slightly as long as your tires will let you....

actually the spring pads sit on the top of the coil spring, not on the bottom (control arm).

for your w210, there are 5 different thickness for the front and 4 for the rear.

A set of spring pads should cost less than $25. The problem is you have to take your springs out to install them, so if you are using a shop, you are looking at 2-4hrs shop time for the job.

You can tell your spring pads size by using a flash light and look around the bottom edge of the pad to find the "dot". Each dot represent the pad size number (3 dots= pad #3).

Installation with factory spring compressor take about 1 hrs but they usaully say it take about 2-3 hrs so they can charge you $$$$. 3 hrs, that's how long it took me to do spring installation without the spring compressor.

Interesting, does the ride become affected by this mod? or just the hight?

I'd like to lower my car, but I don't want it any stiffer, that is why I ask.

Doesn't really effect suspension stiffness, I'm not convinced that H&R spring is actually stiffer than AMG Euro so do not be concerned about H&R making ride too stiff.

pocholin,
spring pads are not the ideal way to lower your car, it is hardly noticeable. we're talking millimeters, not inches; so will not produce the visual looks of a lowered car.
