Brake pads

Brake pads
I was driving today and the "brake lining wear" message came on. I have a 1997 E320 and I am planning to sell the car pretty soon since I will be moving. How much does it cost to have the pads replaced? Can I just bring it into a garage instead of the dealer? Thanks!

You can certainly take it to a garage if you want, in fact I'd recommend that if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. You will get HOSED at the dealer.
If you are a DIY kind of guy then get the pads anywhere (particularly since you're selling it, what do you care) and then put them on yourself. You will need to get new sensors. I posted a DIY pictorial on the W210 here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w210/107227-okay-brake-job.html
