Xenon, or Projector, it is personal preference.
However, the len of aftermarket Projector is not good, need to be retrofited.

I have Xenon, but, I think retrofited projector is further than OEM Xenon.
Zam2000 is the best!

Not really, OEM W210 xenon set, for both 96-99 and 00-02, are good the way they came. Btw, they're only difference in the outside a bit (mounting point), they're ideticall internally & light output. There's really nothing one could do to improve it.

With projector xenon light, changing a lens or projector make a big deal in light output, especially if you can get an ECE (European ones), like the one I sold to HighEnd.

With reflector (case of W210 OEM xenon), there's bulb, light guide tube, and a light cover, and there's...light. Not much could be done to improve light output, unless you're upgrading to 50W ballast & bulb (boot light output by 80%), and these thing are quite expensive ($1k at least, if you can manage to find a set). Another option is getting a pair of D2S bulbs (about 20% brighter than D2R used in reflector, cut the grove to fit the D2R). However, both of these options may cause blinding or glare to other drivers, since reflector light don't focus beam as well as projector.

Whether w/ OEM xenon, or upgrade projector xenon, you can't go wrong. Both are good choice & better than OEM halogen. Just don't fit a xenon set into Depo light w/o changing lens/projector, then you'll be alright.
