Help with Flat Emblem

I got a flat emblem about 4 months ago and in the process of installing it, I lost the 2 plastic washers that holds the inner piece so the emblem remain allighned....its those 2 white plastic in the picture.
flat emblem pix
Does anyone know if I can use something else to replace the lost washers.
I've emailed "for my mercedes" and I was told they don't have extras and only have what was shipped by the manufacturer.

any suggestions will be appreciated, I don't want to buy the emblem all over again. I don't mind paying for the washers though.

thanks!

Happened to Me Too!

What I did with a friend's badge was to force two plastic tubes in the holes (cut pieces from the inside of an old spray bottle) to secure the pins on the base. Then I put double sided tape under the badge (as the underside of the emblem is not flat) and added contact glue for extra security. Just make sure it dries properly and when installing you don't tighten the screw too much so that the emblem itself lifts off (as the badge is bigger than the dimple on the hood and the base itself, the base will separate from the emblem if you tighten too much...hope this makes sense).

thanks for all the responses, including the very creative ones. I now know that I don't have to buy another emblem. I will call the dealership first then work my way to home depot/lowes, unfortunatly I don't have any old spray can lying around.

cheers!

I got them from the "stealership"....used my friend's discount... $0.80 for both. They will go on this weekend.
Thanks for your suggestions guys...should have asked 3 months ago when I lost the ones that came with the emblem.

cheers!

Congrats! So do they actually sell these things as a separate part or did they take the kit apart especially for you? I wouldn't mind getting a pair for my friend - can't bear the guilt of losing them myself and having to improvise when she trusted me....:p

Whitey...Yes, U can buy as parts...they didn't pieces out one for me, U know the stealer will be glad to sell me that emblem package than pieces it out.

Guys, I'm still having problem..well, I have a question...
does the white plastic goes in the emblem first then I press it in the holder from top after the holder is in place?
OR do I use the white plastic thing to hold the emblem attached to the holder???

Is is necessary to put silicon adhesive underneath the emblem be4 attaching it to the holder???

thanks in advance....

**I know I read somewhere how to install but I've searched and read a lot of thread, but didn't get the answer I want, I know it will be time effective for someone to tell me what they did.....

DO NOT TRY TO HOLD IT WITH THE PLUGS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BASE!!!!!

......that's how I'd lost my friend's ....fell right off into the engine and vanished. I've obviously not had a chance to try it properly but I have been told you slip the washers on TOP of the base (wide side on top, the only way it'll fit), then stick the pins of the emblem into them and it will hold well enough by friction. But of course, you may want to put some silicon under the emblem to seal it, as well as hold it better in place..

Whitey, thanks for the info...I'll do that after I've purchased another set of 2 "GROMMET" that's what they call those white things and the part number is
2 201-997-22-81

cheers!

Absolutely correct. I've done this swap and I am a carphobe. :p
It goes on pretty tight so I didn't gum it up with any silicone and its been through a few car washes already no problemo.

Thanks to all help with this project. I finally got the flat emblem on my car.
It only took me 3+ months to put it on the car....I'm glad I finally put it on tho...
I finally got the look I want on my hood.

Its a very simple project, I don't know why I couldn't figure it out on my own.
