High Beam Switch

I was driving tonight and my headlights were on.... I hit the turn signal switch to change lanes....then the high beam light came on. Apparently there is a black cover (about 1 in x 1/2 in) that held the high beam switch to the steering column. the black cover is now loose, it came out of place.
Now my high beam stayed on, even after I turned off the lights....Then I pushed the bushing inside the steering column down and the high beam goes out.
But, this is just a temporary fix...as the black cover is still out of place.

My question is..If I'm able to put the black cover back, will I have full operation again, OR do I need to replace the high beam/wiper/turn-signal switch???

I will try to mess with it in the morning when there is daylight.

H E L P... b4 the high beam comes on by itself and kill my battery....thanks...

You will have to replace the whole unit if the switch is loose. I just replaced mine yesterday. It was even killing my battery. After I switched it out. Everything was fine.

Do you have to remove the steering wheel to replace the stalk, or just monkey around the neck?

Well, I tried to mess with the cover but couldn't put it back and I don't want to break it...will take it to my mechanic for check up.
I never knew that the high beam will go out as soon as I turned off the ignition....and I've owned this car for a lil' over 2 years...well, I guess I always turn the lights off be4 ignition off, so I never knew...It is a relief to know that the high beam will NOT come on while the car is packed.

still need suggestions

The new unit when order from the dealership is soldered together with the signal unit. You will need to take apart the steering coloumn cover and the bottom portion of the dash. Just order the new part and you will get an idea of what to take apart and replace. Its plug and play. Just make sure you remember how to put everything back together.
