1 Malfunction

Hey all, new to the forum here. Glad to see this exists.

I currently have a msg on my guages: 1 Malfunciton but it doesnt tell me what it is. Has anyone encountered this issue or could it be a series of possible scenarios?

Any insight is appreciated.

It's more likely related not activating tele aid system. I have this malfaction and a dealer can't get it away since I am not subscribed to the service. BTW I called the service and they also can't get this message away. So, it seems no more Mercedes for next car.

to scroll use your steering wheel buttons, if the 1 malfunction is displayed press the left up/dwn buttons to see what failed. It could very well be the teleaid ,mine was on because of the account activation. After a while it will go away but than it comes back to remind you to activate the teleaid account.Tele aid is like the onstar on other vehicles nice to have but not a must have.

Thx for the insight. I assumed it was due to the tele-service feature as well. I cannot scroll through the message.

My SOS light is always on when the car is running so I figured it was related to the Malfunction msg. within the settings.

Thx. I'm glad it's nothin major.

Others: "Those Mercedes are damn expensive on the maintainence side"...

Me: "Yeah, but it's a Mercedes"

The red SOS light will stay on whether you have activated the SOS service or not.

What year? The one malfunction that you refer to on 2000 and later model is that the phone is not installed or you do not have NetStar communications. It is standard "malfunction". If there was a real error, you would get a check engine light or it will read "display malfunction"

Best Regards...

Interesting. I don't have any malfunctions on my 2000 E320 and I don't have a phone and I don't have NetStar communications. Is that a malfunction that I don't show a malfunction?

My Benz is an 01. I cannot see more details regarding the Malfunction msg. If I go Up / Down I just go to the mext msg.

I don't have the phone installed on my car. Most likely, this is phone related.

Receive one message 1 malfunction then scroll to the malfunction. The malfunction reads "display malfunction visit repair shops. This message appears for a few days then returns. The dealer has not been able to repair. Has anyone found the source of this error?

One poster suggested that it may be to the not having the tele-aid system activated. I can tell you that my '01 only had the tele-aid active the first year and then I didn't renew the service. I have never had a single malfunction message for any reason, including non-active tele-aid...

I have the tele aid since I purchased the car new. Once the message displays use the arrow up or down and that will give the reason if the motor is still running once you shut down the information is lost on my car.

1 malfunction

I had the 1 malfunction message show up when I first got in the car. My salesman told me it was because the teleaid hadn't been activated. Not wanting to pay a few hundred dollars every year for a service I'll never use is stretching the definition of a "malfunction" but, whatever

My dealer said the same thing about this message on my car and whats odd is my buddy's 03 don't have it and he don't have the sos service or a phone installed. He has never seen it and mine is on all the time. It really pisses me off I cant get rid of it.

If the message is teleaid related the dealer can remove it with the Star system. The phone will not give an error message. Have the dealer interrogate the computer with the Star and that will give a definitive answer as to what it is.

driving lights

in my car i get the malfunction at night after i have turned off my headlights and after i have shut the car down. at that point the parking lights and fog/driving lights come on. in my car the right driving light is perpetually out and it results in a malfunction.

so, have you noticed whether your malfunction is day or night? do all of your lights work?

parking lights?
side marker lights?
driving/fog lights?

good luck
