My E300TD got painted today!!
I posted this in Tech Talk already. I walked out of work today and noticed that my car was metallic burgundy with tan poke-a-dots. The building I work in had some painting done to an exterior wall. They failed to tell me that the painting would be done a few feet from my parking spot. I have paint ALL over my car. Windows, trim, finish, everything has been covered.
I got an estimate from my bodyshop to have all of it removed. It is going to cost around $500. My building manager does not believe me. They want me to get another estimate. What would you guys think is a viable amount?

I think $500 sounds reasonable. Though you should try claying your car first yourself to see if that removes the overspray. The body shop may just take an orbital buffer to it with compound, which will remove some of your factory clear coat too (and possible create a bunch of swirls). You really want to minimize the amount of factory paint removed in the process.

What kind of paint did they use? was it water based? If yes, it's easy to get off with a wet cloth. If it's aa acrilic enamel (very unlikely for the building exterior), then buy some cheap paint thinner and try to wipe the paint in some less visible area first. It should come off easily. As soon as the tan paint is off, wipe the car with some wet cloth, to wipe off the paint thinner residue. And dont' worry about damaging the car finish with the paint thinner, it would take a lot of scrubbing to to it.
