01 E320 Fuel Gage
Just noticed this week that when I topped off my 01 E320 4Matic that the fuel gage went up only to a needle width above 3/4. Happened on 2 fill ups. Anyone else experience this with their E320's and anyone know the cure???

And so it begins......
The "trouble-free" E320 4Matic has finally lost its virginity. You need a new fuel sending unit, a common problem on nearly every modern Mercedes-Benz model. It's a very easy job to do, takes all of 10 minutes. The fuel tank is located behind the rear seat backrest. To get at the sending unit, the front wall of the trunk has to be removed, then there is easy access to the fuel tank.

My E55 gauge doesn't work right either. When full, it only shows 18 - 18.5 gals in the tank (holds 21 gal). I have had more trips to the dealer with my '01 E55 (12 mo. old) than I've had with all the other new cars I have bought combined! It's a good thing it's such a blast to drive.

To MB Tech 208: Your right, its the first problem with the E320 in 13 months of ownership. I suspected the sending unit as I had a similar problem with my original ML and it was the sender and that occurred and was changed 3 times in the 40 mos I owned the car. Why do all these MB sending units fail?? Why hasn't MB corrected the problem as its so prevalent?? This has not yet occurred with my ML500, should I expect it??
