Income?

Curious, what kind of income do you think the salespeople at a Mercedes dealership make compared to like a Ford or even Honda dealership?

The guy I bought my Accord from in 1998 told me he had been there for something like 12 years. He actually seemed happy. Must have been doing ok. I ask because there are always numerous adds from the same dealers (ford, chevy, dodge) in the paper for salespeople, but very rare to see one from our two MB dealers.

When I sold Volvo back in 1994 there were a small group of guys (fleet and used cars) that consistently made over $100,000/yr.. but that was the exception and not the rule.. most guys made about $40,000 or so...

Keep in mind this was the SF Bay Area too.. cost of living high, even back then.

Sure know what you mean. My wife and I pull in a bit above $200K/year, and we don't live above poverty level that much. Everything here (SoCal) are so expensive. Of course, notoriously expense is the housing payment.

I have no idea how people with regular jobs do it in Cali. I spend some time in Woodland Hills and have been everywhere in So Cal. I would love to live in Santa Monica, Pacific Pal, but instead I'll just visit. Love your weather. Hate your prices. I could not afford my house here if it was in So Cal.

I don't either.. I've got property in NorCal but it came down thru family and they got it for $35,000 in 1969....

how a couple these days (even with $200K+ incomes) can buy a home for $1.5 - $2.0 Million for a 3000sf, 2 car garage, I don't get it?

What banks are financing these people?
