break job on 2000 e320

my display is indicating break lining wear, I know that I need front brakes son my question is this can rotors be resurfaced or must they be replaced ? the local stealer told me that mercedes does not cut rotors they replace in an effort not to compromise the quality of the ride ? is this a fact ? ??? I know that they want to make money but are they capable of being resurfaced???? and is their anything else about changing these brakes that I should know that may be different from other cars in the past that i have owned ?

In most cases you end up changing the rotors with every other pad change. Measure the rotors to see if they are down to the minimum thickness. You don't turn them like the one on American cars.

MB's brakes: Rotors are replaced only (your master mechanic would be able to tell you when). My '96 E320 needs front pads/sensor at 45K miles. Dealer wanted $250, my MB independent shop did it for $150, also using MB parts. Good luck

The front brake job on an E-class is pretty much the same as any other disc brake car with ABS. If you buy the parts online (pads, sensors, and discs), the job will probably run around $150 in parts. The bolts that hold the caliper are metric allen bolts. A pretty straight forward job once you get into it.

Good Luck

If you know how to change brake pads and rotors, its a pretty easy job.

Do it yourself and save some money.

Well, I thought the minimum thickness for the front rotors was around 22.5 mm, and when I pulled my rotors and saw 24.7, I figured I had at least one shot at turning the edge off and truing them. The rears min out at 7.5mm.

Is this right?
