e55 stock suspension
an mbworld.org forum newbie here. i had some questions that i was hoping you experts would be able to help me out with. i just purchased a 2002 e55 to add to my mb collection. it is brilliant silver with the 2-tone interior. i'm looking to change the suspension immediately and have heard mixed comments about what is stock on the e55.
here's what i've been told:
1. e55 has AMG springs which gives the car a slightly lower stance than the non-AMG
2. e55 has AMG shocks (i've gotten mixed statements on this one)
3. on my other cars, i switched out from stock to H&R/Bilstein
here are my questions:
1. how would/did you lower your e55? i don't want it slammed. but, i do want it lower than it is
2. would switching out to H&R Sport springs lower the car more than the AMG springs?
3. typically i would change out the shocks too. however, is it worth it "if" the car already has AMG shocks?
thanks in advance! i can't wait to show my finished project!

I think you will get better answers in the E55 forum:

Good Luck.
There are several ways to lower the car, The most popular is as follows - Use H&R springs which are 15% firmer than the AMG springs, and they lower the car about 1.5" lower than the AMG springs. People who use the H&R springs, also change to the Bilstein "Sport" shocks. Again, a little firmer (especially on rebound) and shorter to accomodate the drop from the springs.
