vibration at cold start

vibration at cold start
I have a 1998 E320 Wagon with 110,000 miles. When it is first started when it is cold overnight the car vibrates until warm. It is loud and it is not tires, brakes or suspension. It feels like trans or an engine mount. Any sugestions? Thanks

Dang, just came on here to research the exact issue, same 98 w/about the same mileage. Vibrates upon start and at stop lights, and only in gear.
I too was thinking engine or tranny mounts?

My vote is motor mounts. Dealer replaced mine under warranty at last service and it does make a difference. I hadn't really noticed it that much before, but after I got the new ones, the car was smoother and a little quieter. So much so, that a couple of times at red lights I was checking the tach for idle - I mean there was no vibration at all.
I think there was a thread on replacing these yourself a little while back, try searching on motor mounts. It seemed pretty easy and they're not that expensive I think.
