I Just bought 2001 E-430. This is Southern California car [Rust free], just came of the lease.

Car has 72000 miles. I bought for $18500. Actual car sold for $17250 in auction and then I paid friendly dealer $1250 for his effort to go to auction and buy car for me. It just came of the Hiline dealer only auction in Riverside, CA.

Nice car. Did you sell your E420? And if you did and don't mind me asking, how much $ did you get for it?

lexrex , I will keep E420 also. I am giving my E420 to misses.

My E420 have heated seats, power sunshade, headlights washer and multi-countor seates.

The 2001 E430 came with power rear sunshade, but does not have heated front seats, lamp washer and multi-countor seats.

But so far I am happy with 2001 E430. the only modification I am looking is to add MIKBOX to connect my Cingular V551 phone. I will also add voice activation switch on steering colum.

On pricing of my 2001 E430, I feel I may have paid about $500 over the wholesale price.

Zam2000, Can you e-mail me I like to upgrade my headlights on 2001 E-430 from Stock halogen to retrofit Xenon.

Thanks in advance for your help. I am in north side of southern california and often visit OC.

My 1997 E-420 has stock Xenon and I am happy with it, but 2001 yellow halogen look ugly, I must upgrade to Xenon.

It amazes me how cheap these cars sell for with 60-70 thousand miles on them! I guess that's the curse of MB's reliability issues

Hadam got a great deal. All of those auctions will eventually end up on a dealer's lot asking around $23K-$25K.

The E class does not have any reliability issues if the owner is prudent about maintenance. They have a few known defects that are easy to check. I really like the differences in my post-facelift (2000 E430) vs my 97' E420 I used to have. Which, by the way, I snagged for $15K with 78,000 miles after my E420 was totalled. The only issue that I have found has been the common LCD problems on the 2000 model instrument cluster. The car runs extremely fast an handles well with new 18" staggered rims. I too would eventually like to update to xenon.

Now this car has been put on Ebay for $24000 as reserve price. So you can see how much used car dealer do mark up on a car.

If you know how to negotiate, then you can get this car for $17500-$18000 easily. see the pic's on Ebay, this car is clean and just came of the lease. One owner in Southern California.

Too funny, that car on ebay is EXACTLY LIKE MINE< except I have the 4 matic suspension. Now I'm not complaining about the price I paid either, I'm just shocked that someone can get so much car for less than 20 k. Who in their right minds buys a new camry with these around??????
