Hi, Noobie here with a wheel question for E-Class

Hi, my father wanted me to find him wheels for his 2000 E320 W210 sedan. I need to know if the newer model E-Class cars (e.g. 2005) wheels are direct swap interchangeable with the previous W210 models. Thanks in advance for input. -D

No, they are not a direct swap. The 14mm lug holes on the W211 (2003-)wheels are too big for the standard 12mm W210 (1996-2002) lug bolts. You can physically bolt them on, but the wheel will be loose and extremely dangerous to drive.

To install the newer W211 wheels on the W210, you will need custom lug bolts ($$$). Search the archives for more info. You may ultimately decide it's less hassle to buy wheels that were intended for your car.

Thanks very much for the input. Yes, we do not want any complications to the ride.

If anyone has wheels/tires that directly bolt onto the 96-2002 model E-Class, please let me know.

Whitey, good catch. I meant something more along the lines of "could come loose."
