I have a 99 E430 with 30k miles that is going to be out of warranty next month. What do you guys think of extended warranties. The dealer has something like 84 months/84000 miles for 2600. That seems kinda steep. Any advice would be appreciatede, thanks...

I have been happy with warrantygold, I hear onesource is good too.
The dealer is charging you too much for an aftermarket warranty!
If you want a manufacturer warranty (Starmark is only available the 1st year), call Chrysler and buy their warranty.
I'm serious, and it is not advertised, but DaimlerChrysler will sell you the Chrysler warranty for your MB which the MB dealer must accept. It's the loophole around Starmark. . .

A year ago, I was looking to buy an extended warranty before my original warranty expired (4/50k).
I also have a Jeep, so I called DaimlerChrysler in disgust about the fact that my Jeep has a manufacturer extended warranty that I bought in the 4th year, but that the MB (which I bought used at 3yr/25k) could not get the backing of the manufacturer.
They told me that I could not buy Starmark, but that I could buy the Chrysler plan ( I think it is Chrysler Advantage).
So I called my local dealership and they confirmed that they would accept the warranty.
I the end I decided to buy warrantygold diamond plan for $1800, it is an exclusion only policy (which is the best so that you don't have to argue all the time) and added 6 years, up to 100k to the car. I have had only one claim with them and they have been good (the MB dealer performed the repair). I think 1source may get slightly better review, so compare.
