Good MB Mechanic in Houston, TX??
Hi,
My 97 W210 is leaking transmission oil for the last year or so from the seal that joins the tx to the engine (Not the pan). I took her to the dealership in Sugar Land to have them replace the seal. They told me it could be torque-converter seal AND the outer seal. For them to open it up it will be $600 and about the same plus parts to close it up. He advised a trustworthy independant mechanic might charge half of that amount or less but offcourse the dealer ship wants mew to get the MB experience at that stealership.
Transmission felt very strong and glitchless after they filled the fluid to normal levels.
Does anyone know of a reliable independent repair shop in Houston area? Also what is an approximate real-world estimate in your opinion?
thanks,
Moby

Greenway is still reasonable compared to MB of Sugar Land. Those people have outrageous rates on service and parts. For instance, GW charges $18 for TX fluid wheras MB of SL charges $28.99 per quart. what a difference. Don't get me wrong though, they have the same price as MB of SL but for some reason they always negotiate with me and give me the mechanics discount.
For service, they have the same high rate!

Sugarland dealership is good
Since I have had my car I have had it serviced at MB sugarland. My service advisor is M------- I do not want to mention the name, but she is the only lady advisor there. She is the best!!!!! I had been to Greenway a couple of times to get a few problems fixed on my car which is still under warranty, but the service advisors there SUCK BIG TIME!! Moby, you should think of getting your car fixed by an authorized MB dealership for peace of mind in the future.

Good Independent Shop in Houston Area
I've used Cedes Auto Repair in League City for several years. I've found them to be honest and most competent. They are located on Hwy 3 just north of 518. The new Alex Rodriguez Dealership is a good source of parts and warranty work. They have excellent customer service. Star Motors on Old Katy Rd. is very good also for warranty work.
