Coolant Flush Needed?

Coolant Flush Needed?
Hi,
I have a 2001 E320 4Matic and I don't know much about cars. My question is does any of the services (ie. A,B,C) include coolant flush. If not, when is it necessary to have a coolant flush. I have 80,000+ miles as my driving is 50% highway and 50% city for work. Also, is brake fluid flush necessary too and when.
Thanks in advance,
Cat

Yeah, that sounds right. Do you have any maintenance records on the car? It should be stated on the service records from the dealer. You may be able to ask the dealer (if you have a good one nearby) to pull the records and check. If it were me and you're still not sure, I would get it done now, it's fairly inexpensive preventative maintenance.

I would flush coolant every 25K or 3 yrs, which ever comes first. The additives used in coolant are not as effective after that. Lubricant additives are needed to prolong the life of water pump, Corrosion inhibitors are needed to help metal last longer, and additives to lower freezing point of coolant... I just give out information being a chemicals scientist...
Good luck

Cat... I had ours in for HB service today, and the dealer did the 15-pt check. Our car has 65K miles on it, recently purchased from private party with no real service records. Dealer recommended coolant and brake fluid flush. No time at the end of the day, but I'll take it in soon to have those items done.
$95 for a coolant flush and $75 for the brake fluid. Both should be good preventative maintenance (how many cars did our parents drive and the brake fluid was NEVER changed except for replacing lost fluid during a brake job or failure?).
