Angry BAS/EPS warnings

One and while my BAS/EPS warning comes on and the ABS system. I know it means that my BAS and EPS systems have shutdown. Accoridng to the manual it is possible to due to low voltage being fed to the systems. Does thi smean my battery is about to go out? Or my brakes are not good? Sometimes it gives me 3 malfunctions, ABS, EPS, and BAS all at the same time. Anyoen with this same issue.

My Car is 2000 E320 with 52,000 miles only.

Thanks you

Most of the time, it's the brake light switch (under the steering column) that triggered this.

Very expensive part, around $14 , take 10 minutes to replace.

I've had the same thing happen. It would be worse on colder days, which lead me to the battery. Changing the battery solved the problem. The amazing thing is that it was the original battery which had a date code of 4497 or the 44th week of 1997. When you start the car, don't step on the brake. If it's the battery, the codes will pop up. If it happens once you step on the brake, then it's probably the switch. If it's the battery, call MBUSA roadside service. My Starmark warranty expired last year, but they still came to my office and replaced the battery for the cost of the battery at the dealer, and no labor charge. Total $130.00.

Lightbulb

Thank you so much for the valauble info. The BAS/EPS light does not come on when I press the brakes. You are right, the onyl time it happens is when it is cold outside. Almost the sam etime of the year last yr it happened, but last yr it only happened once. It has been now about 5 days and it did not come on. The battery i have is the original almost 6 yrs old now. Thanks for the info regarding the battery number which i would not have guessed what it meant.

Thumbs up zam2000

Thank you. You are not a super member rated for nothing. Althu the BAS/ESP did not come on again, I ended up taking it to the shop, and guess what, it was the Brake switch. It was triggerring it becuase of the cold/heat thus expanding/shrinking the switch causing a low voltage being fed to the system thus causing the malfunction display. Got it fixed yesterday. My front brakes rotors were bad too and had that replaced as well. I tell ya this yr alone, I had Deffective Lamps front and back "fixed it myself", Had this issue BAS/ESP fixed at the shopt $80, and front brakes lining wear issue fixed at the shop for $400 . It could have been worse. But now I am happy. Thank you so much for your advice. You were right on the money.

I had the same thing going on for about a month. Once I replaced the stop lamp switch. The problem when away. I took the old switch apart, it is actually two switches in one. The switch engages with the slightest touch of the brake pedal, this is for the stop lamps. The second switch makes contact when the brake pedel is pushed harder or further down. The contacts for this switch are for the EAS/BAS/ABS. The control module takes into account the open/closed state of these individual switches along with all of the related sensors. One contact on the EAS/BAS/ABS switch was loose inside of the switch assembly, this probably caused the warining light to come on at different times.

BAS ESP ABS can not move out of Park

if you got BAS ESP and ABS warning light and can not shift out of Park position. Do this: Press on the brake and have someone check the brake light, if not, the Stoplight switch is bad, remove cover above the brake pedal, press on brake and tap the switch and see if the cylinder release or not, this will let you move out of Park.

If the Brake or Stoplight switch is bad, the computer won't allow to shift out of Park because it think you are not press on the brake.

This part is around $20
