Broken antenna

I searched the archives and saw some mentions, but no solutions. Does anyone have a fix for this problem? Is just the rubber boot available, or does the whole assembly have to be replaced? Thanks!

Did anyone ever figure this out? Someone just whacked the antenna on my car and the dealer wants over $100 for a replacement part, not to mention the hassle and cost of replacing it.
thee MUST be a solution.
Anyone?

Do A Search!

Do a search first! There are plenty of options other than the stealership! You can also try member MBenzNL, He will help you if the part is still available to him.

Thumbs down Bite me pinhead

Take a look at the date of the original post Howellja, and you'll see that I DID a search in order to even find it. It is from JANUARY!
I was looking for sources for the item INSTEAD of the dealer or an option that others may have used INSTEAD of the factory part.

Take a look at the part below your avatar that says "almost a member" before you go spouting off.

Thanks for the alternate source Kent, I just found them myself earlier this week.
I am still not clear on what is underneath the cap though. Is there any wiring that needs to be messed with, or does the cap just go over the original antenna?

How timely! I just got my part from duval today. The piece ships with the cover and a new rubber surround. You simply unscrew the cap and replace the new surround for the old one. Screw the cap back on and your set. Be careful not to overtighten as the surround will begin to pucker. Thanks to another forum member, the duval source was the best price I found. It took about a 5 days to get the part to my door. This has saved me thousands of dollars

my experience

ive had the same problem, and the stealership asked for $136 dollars for the replacement part without install(i could do this myself anyways)

i went to my local auto parts store and bought plastic covers for various engine plugs and connectors-plus caps-came to a little over $8!!! Installed recently...a little thicker than the original...but you cant tell the difference. kinda matches the car IMO. Ill post pics soon
