Does the 1997 E420 have a ignitor or distributor?
Recently I got a flooded 1997 Mercedes E420 for real real cheap and was attempting to restore it. I replaced almost all the control modules but when I crank I dont see any spark. I was wondering if this car has a ignitor chip since it has coil packs or would it have a distributor? Im so used to Nissan and Hondas that I am clueless when it comes to German engineering. Can you guys please help me and direct me to some info.Where is the ignitor if there is one at all ? All comments are welcome. Thanks

Electronic ignition controled by the Engine Control Module. There are separate coils rather that one coil going to a distributor.
Those flood vehicles will have a lot of electrical problems. You may have to change the control modules and electronic sensors to get it to fire up again.
THe ECM tells the coils when to fire but it also needs to know the position of the engine to determine what one to fire. You may have a crank position sensor bad or a bad wiring harnes.
