Naaahhh! I would rather not put an antena (functioning or otherwise) and rather they see the interior of my car and say...

well a removable gps antenna would be cool, cause then you could pop it off and take it with you inside the bar instead of the cucumber! talk about killing 2 birds with one stone.

It looks GOOD!
I think it looks great! Good color match, placement is same as stock,You can purchase the same antenna housing on Ebay for $20, but otherwise, great job!

For half that amount, I have a hard wired ( power and connection to radio ) Roady XT hidden under the ashtray lid and it works great for XM with the tiny supplied antenna sitting( almost invisibly ) on the right upper dash corner .

I knew this would come up and I knew I shouldve taken pics even with my camera phone ..
I took my car to the local Jaz Dent ( paintless dent repair) shop, and what do I see sitting outside one of the shop's stalls
V12 BiTurbo badges on the side of a coupe and I said hollly **** , so I walk up to it to check it out and walk behind it and see CL500 on he left rear and CL55 on the right rear and I said HOLLLLY **** !!!
anyway I thought it was funny for anyone to do that ...
but anyway just saying !!

My AMG monoblocks are 3-piece ultralights (see the little allen bolts, and the shiny aluminum outer rim shell?) These came off a Mercedes SL500 with an AMG package; AMG no longer makes the Monoblock Ultralight 3-piece wheels; they haven't since 2001. These are a lot nicer looking and a lot lighter than the stock AMGs that come stock on the 97 E420 Sport.

I'm just really curious as to what the possible reasoning could be to install a fake gps antenna on a vehicle being more specific a mercedes, Is it that you want to portray the appearance of a newer body that the older one in an effort to fool people or what, I'm really trying to determine to the mindset here..... help me to understand the logic????????

no different than body kits, AMG badges, spoilers, blue tinted headlights,
E320 w/E55 tail lights.... no harm, no foul.

"It's your thang....do what you wanna do..."
The flip side, of course, is to spot light these accouterments and laugh.

Apparently that is actually what they did in those 007 movies showing streets and a tracking beacon.

funny... it is widely accepted to put a wood steering wheel on your Benz... but not the GPS mount... in my opinion... both are PURELY for personal looks and preferences. Ground effects also fall into this category... they look good... but again... all looks...
Regardless, to each his own. Mak likes it and that's all that matters. At least he did it in style by purchasing the OEM antenna from Mercedes.
Just my humble .02

Does anyone know the part number for the GPS antenna cover? I have searched high and low on this site and have had no luck
. I have a 2001 E320 and desperatly need to replace the cover on it due to the rubber tip coming off. Any help would be much appreciated

GPS antenna part #
It's A 210 820 20 75 . My local dealer quoted me $110 for the entire unit ... they won't sell you just the cap. I put a piece of black heat shrink tubing around the exposed wire and it looks just fine.
Oh and BTW, every 210 from '00-'02 comes standard with the GPS antenna whether you have the COMAND nav system or not. My guess is for Tele-Aid purposes.
Good Luck
