2000 E320 Dies when driving
Any suggestions before trying to drive it to the dealer. Out of warranty.
Bob
It's not too expensive to fix, around $200, I think. Strange advice time: DON'T have them diagnose this. Just tell them to replace the CPS. Reason: a full diagnostic will cost a fortune, and there is a 99.9 percent certainty that the CPS is the problem.
I got this same advice when it happened to my 1999 E320, and I treated it with some skepticism, but I followed it, and my car has run perfectly ever since.
Best of luck!

That was the problem exactly. Car died on the way to the dealer. Had to tow it in. $100 for CPS, $100 Labor, $100 tow.
Runs great now.

$200 isn't much man.. I spent $200 per tire (plus $100 for labor, alignment etc) every time I had to buy a new tire for my C230... and I had to get 3 new tires in a very short time.. so that's $1,000 just for tires...
