Question Starting problem for newbie

Hi guys
Thanx a lot for your help to so many experienced (unlike me) and new bies(very much like me).. It really helps save so much..But the best thing is..you get a kick out of this DIY on your things which means a lot...
Well.... I just bought a used 1996- E320.
I actually progressed from Camry...which is quite a big step for me
But few weeks later I started having a problem..
My car at times doesnt start. When i insert the key .. the dash lights dont come up and the key feels like stuck and doesnt move further to the start point... then after a few tries (3-15) .it starts absolutely fine...
I can hear the fuel pump when i put my key..also the interior lights and the stereo works fine due to which i dont think its a battery problem...
But I really dont know...I just got one MB and I literally feel so bad for having this problem on it and I havent got a god damn clue ...
Please help and let me knw any suggestions..
Thanx

Hi newbiee,
I STILL have a Toyota Camry (1991 w/90k miles and going strong).

As to your question, I agree with RobertG. However, If I were you, I'd first have an M-B dealer diagnose the problem. You don't have to let them do the work, because it will probably be the most expensive way to repair the problem, but they will quote you a price that you can depend on.

In my area, there are a couple of former M-B technicians who are in business for themselves now. If you can find one, ask them for a price too.

Good Luck,
Musikmann

Those old Camry's will last forever. My dad still has his 1990 Camry wagon with 125K miles. He loves that car and don't think he's ever going to get rid of it.

Wow! I have hoped to get as many miles on my car as you did with yours, but it has started to cost me some money recently. The shop foreman at the Toyota dealer told me that the V6 I have is a "higher maintenance" engine than the 4-cylinders than they see. Also that many more older 4-cylinders are still on the road, BUT, this might only reflect that Toyota made/sold a lot more of them.

The main reason I have my Camry was that my father bought it new, and is now deceased. He died in 1995 and there were only 12k miles on it. My mother kept it an a 2nd vehicle, and she and I maintained it until she passed away. I then bought it from her estate.

I have seen the Camry wagons that you are speaking of (with that same body style - I believe 1991 was the last year they used that), but I sure haven't seen very many of them around. My guess is that they didn't produce that many.

Well.. I dont knw much about the 6 cylinder Camries but I have seen many similar camries from early 1990s in NC state. Even I drove my dad's camry. But then he bought a mercedes and ever since I started sneaking out with MB.. I havent liked the camry. My main reason is the interiors. It is so much better.. But MB's computer stuff gives me jitters... so I am a li'l bit scared.
