W210 headlamps seal question?

I noticed that there is a large gap underneath the lower bit of trim surrounding the headlamps, and the top of the bumper (chrome piece). It looks like a bit of trim or seal is missing?

The photos don't show it well, but basically you can see the engine bay through that gap.

Is this correct, or should there be a rubber strip in there? Looks odd without one. Could someone run out and check theirs, see if there is a gap, or a seal, or if the bumper is too low on mine?

There is a weatherstrip that is normally attached under the headlight panel. It clips to the underisde of the smaller removable panel that can be removed to service the lights. I would take that panel off and look around to see if someone just left it dangling behind that panel. IIRC, you just need to take out two small bolts (one you can see, and one is hidden by the rubber strip near the grille.

Thanks, I'll take a look tomorrow. The bolts on the headlamps don't seem to be metric for some reason....

Yep, the 2 strips were hanging loose. I clipped them back on and now everything is fine Theres a buildup of salt behind the headlights but nothing to worry about

I pictured myself in your position with a question about something that looks odd enough to appear cheap, but only to find out that you had it there all this time and it took just a short time for you to give your car a 'mod' that was there all along.
You must be gratified to know that this forum is here to help in situations like this. There is no question that is silly or stupid, sometimes the most awkward and obvious questions are the best. Good questions, good answers. Now take that smile off your face and plan your future mods people.

p.s my cousin and I are going to start a car club out here in the East Coast.
lets us get some more info together and you guys can check it out and
join, it will be fun.
