Radio reception is very poor - anyone else?
Hi. I've recently found that my radio reception in my 1996 E300TD is extremely poor. I live in London uk and reception is great everywhere for most stations but i can only pick up one station properly.
it doesn't matter where I am. I've tried switching headunits to one that I know works and the same thing happens. THe headunit is aftermarket but I don't think that makes a difference.
The car has a roof aerial (short stubby) as standard but I've been told that it may not be the radio's (there's no gps or anything, but people say they might put it there anyway for later upgrade).
Is the antenna for the radio or is the antenna built into the rear windscreen? (that's hwere I've been told it would be otherwise).
Either way where does the wire go? down the centre or down the sides? I need to follow it to search for bad connections.
Thanks in advance.

I had bad AM reception but fine FM. In my case it was a faulty antenna and something in the external thing was replaced. My mechanic had no trouble diagnosing and fixing it.
